What an Xtream Codes Login Is, and Why Yours Looks Like That

1. Find the Xtream option in your player

   IPTV Smarters calls it "Login with Xtream Codes API". TiViMate calls it "Xtream Codes login". Most others shorten it to Xtream or simply API. Where a player offers both this and an M3U field, always take this one, because it brings the guide and the on-demand library with it.

   Get login details first

2. Enter the server URL

   It wants the whole address: http:// at the front, the port on the end, in the shape http://example.com:8080. Nothing follows the port, neither a slash nor a path. More failed logins trace back to this one field than to everything else put together.

3. Enter the username and password

   Copy both straight from the message and mind the capitals, because they are case sensitive. The profile name above them is cosmetic and affects nothing at all, so call it whatever helps you tell two accounts apart later.

4. Save and let it synchronise

   Channels, on-demand content and the guide all download by themselves. Keep those three values somewhere you can find them: adding a second television later takes under a minute if you have them, and a message to support if you do not.

5. Store the three values somewhere you will still have them

   Put them in a password manager or a note you keep, not only in the WhatsApp thread. Chats get cleared, phones get replaced, and re-issuing credentials means a message to support and a wait. Adding a second television is a one-minute job if you have them to hand.

6. Understand what the port is doing

   The number after the colon tells the app which door on the server to knock at. Get it wrong and the login fails with a message about credentials, which sends people off checking their password for twenty minutes. If a login fails, check the port before anything else.

When it goes wrong, and why

The app only asks for an M3U URL

A few older players understand playlists and nothing else. Use the M3U link from the same activation message, which carries the identical account in a different wrapper. The M3U guide explains what to do with it and what you give up by going that route.

It logs in on one device and refuses on another

That is usually the stream limit on your plan rather than a bad login. A one-screen plan allows a single stream at a time however many devices are signed in. If two people genuinely need to watch at once, the two-screen plan is the fix.

It worked for months and now says the credentials are invalid

The likeliest explanation is the subscription reaching its end date, which produces exactly that message in most players. Check the date before troubleshooting anything technical. Renewing restores the same credentials rather than issuing new ones.

Some apps want a username and password, others want a single URL

Both are the same account presented differently. The Xtream form takes three fields; the M3U form takes one long address with the username and password inside it. Use whichever the player offers, and the Xtream one where it offers both.
